Prayers and Best Wishes Needed

These 3 little angels are still in Neonatal Intensive Care. They had a little bit of a rough patch, but seem to be doing well....

My blankies made it to the bassinets--I know how much they are loved! Especially by their auntie!

Quite the Day

Started out the day at Mimi's Restaurant to celebrate the 50th bday of my friend, Sherry! Finally gave her the quilt Theresa and I made last month:

Then over to Theresa's house to quilt Jeff's quilt. My machine still has a few bugs to work out, so I quilted this in 3 hours instead of 3 days!
Went home, sewed on binding and......surprise....my dear hubby was in San Diego giving a trauma lecture at UCSD...on the way home he googled "quilt shops" (yes, he has an app for that!) and he stopped in and got me some lovely fat quarters:

He loves telling me about all the strange looks he gets when he goes to quilt shops, the ladies are curious to why he's there, and surprised when he asks "where are the batiks" and "do you have any more fat quarters?" When he tells them he's shopping for his wife, he gets the 'oohs and aahhs!"

Anyway, I love the fabric, and I think I'll keep the man!

50th Anniversary Wall Hanging

I was commissioned to make this wall hanging for a couple who were celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary---Golden!!!

I had forgotten to take pictures of the banner and the couple was kind enough to send me pictures and a Thank You note!

And news to our husband's

We do NOT buy everything we see at JoAnns:

Sometimes we just play with the merchandise!!

WIP

Today was Quilting Machine Day----finally figured out how to use my new Bailey---I think I can say that the learning curve is over----YIPPEE!!!!! Because I SUCK at the learning curve-----absolutely no patience------I am a see it and do it kind of person, and learning by trial and error is not my thing. Thank God Theresa had her Bailey for a year before me, so she could show me the ropes!!!! She saved me from throwing my machine on the freeway:

Now on to finish the boys' quilts by Saturday----OY!

Oh how time flies....seems like I was just giving birth to my eldest, and now she's 22!
Glad she was able to come home the earlier part of this month, but it was awfully different not having her here to spoil on her special day!
I know she and Darkel got to spend the whole day together and went to Busch Gardens.
And I know she got the flowers we sent her:
Happy Birthday, Melyssa!!
I love you!

DOES IT EVER GET EASIER?

My daughter and sister-in-law came into California to celebrate Sherwood's 50th birthday. It was sure nice to see them, visit, eat, shop, and party with them!

I had to send off my daughter on Monday morning. I was lucky enough to be able to leave work to have breakfast with her and her dad before she boarded her plane from LAX.

I still wonder every time she leaves---when will I see her again? Will she be ok? What if she needs me and I'm not there and Virginia is SO FAR AWAY?
Will she ever move home, and if not, how will I get to know her beautiful beau? And what if she gets married and has my grandchildren and I can't hold them everyday?

Yikes, I know she is growing and maturing and she is on the right path for a very successful future.....and I know it's not like I am sending a child to Afghanistan...but....will my heart break EVERY time she leaves?????

Quilty Things...

Been super busy as you can tell by previous post, but was able to get in a few minutes of quilting. Still working on my twin brother's 40th bday quilts.....can't post picture updates because one of them actually reads this blog and I want him to be surprised when he gets his!

Made these 2 cases---one for Melyssa and one for Sherwood:

And I finally got a picture of the quilt (one of my favorites) that I made for Debbie (my friend and sister-in-law's) 40th birthday!

Sherwood's 50th Birthday

Let me first apologize for the gigantic picture of Sherwood and I that is on the header! I was trying to change my blog background and header from St. Patrick's Day to Spring. Obviously, I need to refer back to my book to correct this...I will soon!

So....Sherwood's birthday----THE BIG 50....

Melyssa flew in from Virginia and Brenda (Sher's sister) flew in from Florida! It was so nice to see both of them and to catch up!
We all have had a few BUSY days!
The first night Wednesday, we went to Tommy's Sushi:

Then Thursday, we had a bbq at our house (somehow no pics?)
Friday we went eating (I love Fred's) and shopping at Huntington Beach, it was an absolutely gorgeous day---the perfect California weather!

On Saturday, Sherwood's actual birthday, we met a few (can you say 30) people for drinks at Tustin Brewery and then we finished the night at "The Fling"....needless to say, a good time was had by all...

Sunday, after some recovering, we went to Debbie and Paul's house, where we met old friends for the Cox Family!
Paul:
did his magic on the bbq (we ate, ribs, bratwurst, coleslaw, bbq beans) and Amanda made yet another cake--this time we sang Happy Bday to Sherwood, Amanda and Melyssa, as we will not all be together for a while!
